The Surrey Compact Champion

Role of the Champions

All organisations signing the Surrey Compact need to nominate a Compact Champion.

Compact Champions are the focal point for the Surrey Compact within their organisation. As a Champion your role is to raise awareness, keep your organisation up to date and be the initial point of contact for matters relating to the Compact. You will be the link between your organisation and the Surrey Compact Implementation Group.(*note)

The Surrey Compact Development Director will be your point of contact for advice and information.

If you are a very large organisation it may be a good idea to nominate several Champions, to ensure the Compact message becomes a way of life for the whole organisation.

As our Champion you will help promote Compact principles and develop better communication between the public and voluntary sector organisations.

To help you do this we will provide you initially with a toolkit called ‘What we can do…’ We hope that Champions will share good practice, including the successes and difficulties they’ve experienced and those of their organisation. We will be developing a number of means of support over the coming year.

Champions will help to guide the Surrey Compact’s overall direction and work and contribute to the development of the Codes of Practice.

To make sure the Surrey Compact is relevant to the range of Compact signatories, we would like to hear how it is working for you in your organisation.

Note:*Members of the Surrey Compact Implementation Group, undertake the more detailed work on Compact development.
