What we can do..
- Recognise where things work well - and express it! SAY THANK YOU
- Create links between your website and websites for your partners in the other sector, and to the Surrey Compact Website
- Refer to the Compact, and your organisation's/service's commitment to it, in your newsletters, using logo wear possible.
- Refer to Compact frequently in dialogue and other written communications
- Ensure that all staff and volunteers have access to hard copy of the Surrey Compact
- Contribute to development of Surrey Compact Codes of Practice
- Using the Surrey Compact Code Funding Code of practice
- Include your public sector/VCS contacts and partners in distribution of internal communications/newsletters where possible.
- Use the Surrey Compact Logo - following guidance provided.
- Invite counterparts to meetings where their input may help, or where they may benefit from knowledge sharing.
- Be aware of the Surrey Compact Positive Dispute Resolution Process and use it if necessary
- Promote Employee Volunteering, either providing employees or placements for them - use the Volunteering Code of Practise
- Invite work shadowing for staff/volunteers with partners outside of their normal sector.
- Ensure there is an explicit link between the terms of reference of any partnership groups and your Compact commitment.
- Try a work shadowing arrangement between you and your contacts in the other sector
- Explore potential for sharing training (for public sector - subsidised or free places for VCS)
- Prepare a simple action plan appropriate to your organisation, drawing on activities listed here.
- Ensure that all forums and partnership boards have appropriate representation from stakeholders from other sector
- Consider staff/volunteer briefings or workshops on VCS/Public sector partnerships working, exploring barriers and opportunities.
- Identify Compact Champions and provide them with appropriate knowledge to carry out the role.
- Update induction material to include awareness raising on links with partner organisations or other sectors
- Involve appropriate contacts in business and project planning and review - at an early stage
- Check policies, plans and partnership working for consistency with the commitments outlined in the Surrey Compact.
- Prepare a more comprehensive Action Plan and gain senior management/trustee endorsement and commitment to it, including delegation of roles and tasks
